Most viewed basslines 2016

At the beginning of this year I promised to do more transcriptions in 2016 than i did in 2015.
And I did :-)

45 basslines were transcribed for this blog and the "Weekly Basslines" series. 7 weeks I couldn't do a post, as I was on tour with my band. 18 songs were requested.
I think it was a pretty successful year for my blog. The total views are right now at 721.562, which makes it very likely to reach the million next year!

Here's a list of the Top Ten most viewed basslines on this blog in 2016:

Weekly Basslines #205: Thank God It's Christmas (Queen)

My wife insisted that I have to do at least one more Christmas song this year and as she's a big Freddie Mercury fan, she requested me to do "Thank God It's Christmas" by Queen...
..and so I did.... ❤ for her..

Weekly Basslines #202: Merry Christmas Everyone (Shaking Stevens)

It's getting time to learn some Christmas songs. 🎄

My students keep asking me for Christmas songs and so I decided to post some here on my blog!

Here's a nice one by Shaking Stevens originally released in 1985.

Last year (2015) Shakin' Stevens released a new version of the song as a charity single in collaboration with the Salvation Army.

Weekly Basslines #201: Wake Up Everybody (Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes)

What a great song, a true classic with a great message and it still holds true today.

Harold Melvin was one of the driving forces behind the Philadelphia Soul (Phillysoul) genre featuring artists like Archie Bell & The Drells, Hall & Oates, The Manhattans, Billy Paul, Todd Rungren, The Trammps, The Spinners and many more.

The band was already founded in the 50's as "The Charlemagnes", but were most famous with their recordings for the Philadelphia International Records label between 1972 - 1975 with lead singer Teddy Pendergrass.

"Wake up everybody" is from the 1975 platinum album of the same name and was the biggest success for the band.

Thanks to Sherry & Matthew from Michigan again, for requesting this beautiful song.

Weekly Basslines #200: Down On The Street (Shakatak)

Edition 200 of my "Weekly Basslines series" is a requested bassline by Sandra from Cologne.

The group Shakatak is a british jazz-funk band founded in 1980 and still playing. In 36 years they released 36! albums. "Down On the Street" is from the 1984 album of the same name and was a big success reaching #9 in the UK charts.

So Sandra, thanks again for the donation :-)
